Objectives:
- Support sports clubs in each of the wards in the various six coastal counties to register ward sports umbrella groups for maximum utilization of ward sports facilities established by the government and other private sector companies especially the hotel sector.
- Support ward sports umbrella groups to open bank accounts and develop work plans for sports tournaments that would create opportunities for them to generate income through:
- Gate charges payable to the ward sports umbrella group during sport events.
- Support ward sports umbrella groups with organization of sports tournaments and market such events to the community and key sponsors including VIP attendees for improved income generation. All ward sports umbrella group activities for economic empowerment and CVE to be freely advertised on the Tujengane Tuinuane portal and app for youth economic empowerment.
- Support ward sports umbrella groups to utilize additional income generation opportunities through the ward sports facilities established by the county governments and private sector companies including but not limited to:
- Vendor (people selling goods during matches or other events hosted by the sporting facilities) charges payable to ward umbrella group for sports clubs during matches and other events,
- Hire of county sport fields for private social events e.g weddings, Eid celebration political rallies, professional events etc
- Corporate commercial advertising using both the internal and external perimeter wall surfaces of county government sports facilities and media publication
- Inculcate and encourage a savings culture among the ward sports umbrella groups through a special savings program competition that would see top savers get top up savings awards through the Ummah SCORE program and other development partners including individual well-wishers, government institutions and private sector companies.
- Assist ward sports umbrella groups, individual sports clubs and individual sports persons with business skills and business support services to enable them come up with successful registered businesses for further economic empowerment and enhanced resilience against the pull and push factors of violent extremism.
- Through the savings program initiate a funding pool from which ward umbrella groups or individual sports club members of ward umbrella groups may borrow interest free loans to support their development initiatives.
- Link ward umbrella sports groups with potential individual and corporate sponsors including marketing of ward sports fields for corporate commercial advertisements for the promotion of youth economic empowerment and enhanced youth resilience against violent extremism.
- Create a more conducive environment for youth to discuss important matters concerning their economic empowerment and their role in resisting the allure for radicalization and engagement in acts of violent extremism.
