To address lack of enough job opportunities which affect youth development and to some extent pushing them to violent extremism vulnerability genuine serious interventions

must be adopted to ensure talent development for commercial purposes. In order to realize tangible development achievements in sports and talent development we propose the

following interventions: 

•        Establishment of talent schools in each sub-county which will be able to nurture talents and engage the youth to avoid idleness which is a key contributor to violent extremism and abuse of drugs among the youth. The talent schools should include sport academies, music schools etc. the talent schools should also cater for the youth with disability. An elaborate plan should be developed to market talents within and abroad. We must create a commercial link between talent programs such as tournaments, theatre competitions etc. and the hotel and tourism market within the county and far beyond to promote sports tourism. 

•       Set up a ‘Culture and Talent Week ’ in Kwale County where various talents will be showcased to relevant stakeholders who will then spearhead further nurturing to international levels.
•       The county government through the sports docket should conduct video shooting to capture talents during tournaments and competitions for marketing purposes. 

• .      There should be inter-ward tournaments for the youth and also the people with disabilities that runs through Sub County up to county level. This will empower the youth to avoid idleness that may result to the youth involving in drugs and violent extremism. 

•        The Kwale County should have plans to establish county teams that will enjoy adequate support including training and financial support. Sports is very key in enhancing unity and promoting cohesion which can contribute to reducing or eliminating the issue of radicalization and violent extremism. The County Mega sports stadium should incorporate income generating structures and activities including a hotel or hostel, state of the art gym and contracted to a competitive consultant for marketing and promotion of the income generating initiatives. Establishment of public swimming pools will not only solve the problem of lack of such schools in the schools but will also promote talent development and income generation with youth groups employed to maintain the swimming pools and offer rescue services. Annual county swimming competition to include ocean marathon and other water sports to maximise the benefits of sports tourism.

•        The Kwale County amphitheatre facility is a brilliant idea. For better results we propose for adequate equipping that will be done in consultation with the targeted beneficiaries. To realize we propose for the establishment of the county performing arts umbrella group that will be involved in the management of the amphitheatre facility and programs. For economic empowerment we propose that the amphitheatre restaurant facility should be managed by the youth performing arts to promote the welfare of the groups and individual member
•           County government should introduce programs and initiatives that will involve youth in sports and theatre to promote peace and security. This will help a lot with the efforts towards eradicating radicalization and violent extremism.
