Objectives & Activities

  1. Through environmental clubs in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups motivate students to keep their surrounding green and clean.
  2. Work with environmental clubs in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups to promote ethos of conservation of water discouraging wasteful usages and encouraging water recycling.
  3. Inculcate among the youth habits and life style practices that ensures minimum waste generation, source separation of waste and disposing of waste to the nearest storage point.
  4. Work with youth in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups to create awareness among public and sanitary workers to discourage indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases.
  5. Promote tree plantation and awareness program within the community especially about re use of waste material and preparation of products out of waste.
  6. Offer technical skills and support to help youth establish tree and flower nurseries for environmental conservation and landscaping skills for beautification and youth economic empowerment.
  7. Nurture environmental friendly leadership habits among the youth generation in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups, as well as promote development of appropriate environmental career skills and entrepreneurship practices for youth economic empowerment.
  8. Facilitate youth exposure to basic environmental rights and enhance capacity of youth in schools, colleges, universities and youth group members to analyse environmental policy documents and enhance their capacity to carry out basic environmental surveys and audits in their immediate surroundings to enable them make meaningful contributions towards policies and programs undertaken within their institutions , villages, wards and counties.
  9. Promote discussions among the youth on environmental concerns that have a bearing on community conflicts and contributing to violent extremism and give youth the opportunity to deliberate on solutions for such challenges.
  10. Create platforms through which youth in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups can contribute to the global discussion and interventions for the realization of sustainable development goals related to exploitation of existing environmental and natural resources.
  11. Enhance awareness and pro activeness among youth in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups on commercial investments that affect community health as well as expose workers to occupational health risks.
  12. Facilitate educational trips and exchange programs for youth in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups for exposure purposes, linkages and networks aimed at strengthening young environmentalist for professional and leadership roles that will promote environmental conservation and possible economic empowerment of the youth.
  13. Enhance youth knowledge on cultural benefits of the environment and promote research work among the youth on socio economic benefits of existing environmental resources.

World Environment Day Program 2017 – 2018

Based on involvement of youth in the Ummah program for environmental conservation winners shall be selected to participate in the annual world environment day youth awards celebrations.

The annual world environment day youth awards celebrations shall create a unique opportunity for the youth to showcase their environmental work, achievements and presentations on the theme provided;

Role of County Governments, the private sector, youth in schools, colleges, universities and youth groups in promoting the realization of the global sustainable development goals.
