Local Content Task Force Induction Workshop

Kwale Local Content Task Force Induction Workshop held on 15th – 17th October 2019 at the Kenya School of Government – Matuga. The workshop aimed to achieve three objectives:

  1. Streamline the Terms of Reference in relation to the anticipated local content bill 2018
  2. Conceptualize and prepare the ground for the establishment of the Kwale Economic Corporation as a strategy to maximize local content opportunities and for appropriate linkage with the Task Force objectives and activities.
  3. Develop a 3 year work plan to guide the activities of the task force beginning 2020 – 2022.

The Kwale local content project was initiated 2 years ago by Base Titanium and the Germany Agency for International Development and supported immensely by the County Government of Kwale. Through this project about 70 local SMEs have been taken through diverse appropriate supplier development capacity building leading to shortlisting for procurement opportunities and Base Titanium. Ummah Initiative is coordinating activities of the task force to ensure its operationalization and maximization of existing and future local content opportunities within the extractive sector, other multinational corporations and within government institutions and departments.
