Local Content Task Force

On the 6th of August, 2019, our team got an opportunity to engage the Kwale County Executive Member in charge of Social Services and Talent Management waziri Ramadhani Masudi Bungale, on matters relating to local content and the Kwale Local Content Task force initiated by Base Titanium and the Germany Agency for International Development – GIZ, with the support of the County Government of Kwale Department of Trade and Enterprise Development.

Waziri emphasized that the local task force initiative will play a major role in ensuring county government, the extractive sector, other private sector companies and development partners work very closely to ensure Kwale SMEs benefit significantly from multinational corporations and other private sector companies. It was during the time when Bungale was in charge of the department of trade and tourism on acting capacity, that the local content project was initiated by Base Titanium and GIZ leading to the inauguration of the Kwale Local Content Task force.

The project is focusing on youth, women and PWDs, and we will be working together to identify areas of synergy as we make effort to strategically position our SMEs for the enormous value chain economic opportunities within the extractive sector.
