On the 5th of August, the UIG team engaged Base Titanium officers from procurement and community department during a familiarization visit regarding local content matters, SMEs and engagement of community and business stakeholders. Our discussion focused so much on SME capacity building and positioning them for enormous supply chain economic opportunities available at Base Titanium, other multinational corporations, government institutions and departments. UIG has been tasked by Base Titanium and the Germany Agency for International Development – GIZ to operationalize the Kwale Local Content Task force and align it with the upcoming national local content bill 2018 to ensure Kwale SMEs benefit the most from existing and future available local content supply chain opportunities in the extractive sector.
